Second Life
Linden Lab is the creator of the virtual world, Second Life. It was launched on June 23, 2003 and it is intended for people 16 or over. Built into the software is a three-dimensional modeling tool based on simple geometric shapes that allows residents to build virtual objects.
There is no charge for creating a Second Life account or for making use of the
world for any period of time. Avatars may take any form users choose (human, animal, vampire, vegetable, mineral) or residents may choose to resemble themselves as they are
in real life. A person can have more then one account and be multiple residents. Avatars can travel via walking, running, vehicular access, flying or teleportation. Teleportation is used if an avatar want to arrive at their destination quickly. Avatars can communicate via local chat, group chat, global instant messaging and voice.
In the Second Life economy they use the Linden dollar currency. With that currency, players can buy, sell, rent or trade land or goods and services with other users. The virtual world also includes buildings, vehicles, devices of all kinds, animations, clothing, skin, hair, jewelry, and works of art. It also includes sound like the wind swaying in the trees, babbling brooks, audible conversation, and built-in chat and instant messaging. Residents buy property, start businesses, game with other residents, create objects, join clubs, attend classes, or just hang out.

Club Penguin
Club Penguin is a multiplayer online game that involves a virtual world with many games and activities. It was created by New Horizon Interactive and released to the public on October 24, 2005. While free memberships are available, revenue is predominantly raised through paid memberships which allow players to access a range of additional features, such as the ability to purchase virtual clothing, furniture, and in-game pets called "puffles" for their penguins using coins as their currency. Most players are aged 6-14, however it is allowed for anyone to play.
Each player (penguin) gets their own igloo as a home and they can make their igloo public for others to see if they want. They can purchase items to decorate their igloo and even buy bigger igloos. There are parties held every month in which everyone can join. Players can play a number of minigames on Club Penguin. They earn coins based on the score they get. Puffles are small, fluffy creatures that players may have as pets. This virtual world is mostly for children but can be enjoyed by anyone.
